It was a fairly quiet week and I don't feel like I made so much worth posting. Managed to get myself to get a sketch down for the piece I'm doing this month, and did a few things in my sketchbook that feel a little silly to post. I'm currently doing a card a week for freelance work, but I've put aside the last week of November to focus on getting this personal piece done. Need to treat it like work. Taking a week for my own stuff is something I've often forgotten to do and should really try do more in the future. Looking forward to that.
This personal piece is a step towards doing more environments. I'd never really gravitated towards painting environments, painting people always just seemed more interesting for some reason. However, this year I've been way more into painting the backgrounds of card illustrations than the actual characters. I really wish I'd gotten into it sooner, you can capture so many great moods and tell so many stories. I think going hiking or doing some plein air really helps with getting into it. I haven't done any finished works without a main character to focus on, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.
Also here's a little digital still I did on the Surface Pro, trying to keep up with practising from life. I'll try and have a bit more to post next time! Have a great week.
